FPT Digital Accompanies Gas South to Design a Digital Transformation Roadmap for Operational Excellence

On December 1, 2022, FPT Digital (a subsidiary of FPT Corporation) transferred the results of the Digital Transformation Consulting project to Southern Gas Trading JSC. (Gas South) - an energy enterprise with over 20 years of establishment. It is a promising start for Gas South to officially enter the digital revolution with the companionship of FPT Digital, a pioneer in Digital Transformation Consulting.

Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Luan - General Director of Gas South, Mr. Le Hung Cuong - Deputy CEO of FPT Digital, and other members of the Project signed the handover of the Gas South Digital Transformation Roadmap.

After two years of restructuring, Gas South has achieved positive results in business and operation, gaining better productivity and lower costs. Meanwhile, digital transformation has been taking place in many fields, such as e-commerce, finance and banking, education, tourism, logistics, manufacturing, etc., completely changing the face of businesses. Realizing these advantages, Gas South's management board decided to accelerate digital transformation in 2022 to promptly bring outstanding efficiency to its company and shareholders.

Accordingly, Gas South has been oriented toward digital transformation with a focus on operational excellence and digital human resources, aiming for its long-term goal of sustainable development. Mr. Luan affirmed that participating in digital transformation would be a breakthrough for Gas South in merging technology and human capacity.

From these requirements, FPT Digital has supported Gas South in designing a comprehensive roadmap for promoting operational and governance efficiency through the power of digital transformation. These in-depth transformations will remarkably enhance Gas South's all aspects of operations to drive more vigorous growth.

The digital transformation roadmap of Gas South

Gas South's Digital Transformation Consulting Project results from the close cooperation between Gas South and FPT Digital to bring out the most suitable roadmap to improve the company's governance and management capacity.

Mr. Vuong Quan Ngoc, Project Director, clarified: "FPT Digital has conducted a full and detailed survey from the departments of five branches and one member company to build up integrated and multi-dimensional perspectives of Gas South's procedures. The survey has allowed us to examine Gas South's pain points, challenges, desires, and opportunities for improvement in governance and management." In addition, the survey results have provided an overview of Gas South's operational and information technology system, setting a foundation for an optimal Digital Transformation roadmap toward streamlining operations and increasing efficiency.

The roadmap includes 11 digital initiatives, of which eight are aimed at digitizing business segments, and three are to improve IT infrastructure. All digital initiatives are built according to FPT Digital's set of evaluation criteria according to (1) the degree of impact (direct to indirect), (2) the expandability (being expanded to one or more business units), and (3) the ease of deployment. Each digital initiative has its own time frame and KPIs for each implementation stage. Because it was optimally estimated by FPT Digital and Gas South, the roadmap can solve the practical issues detected from the survey while bringing new values to the company in the short, medium, and long term.

Through developing the roadmap, the leadership and management staff can identify internal problems and exploit the potential of new technologies. Soon, when the roadmap is put into practice, all Gas South employees can clearly realize the goals and benefits of the Digital Transformation projects in all functions, such as governance, operational management, production, and others.

Towards sustainable development

Being advised by FPT Digital, Gas South has established an IT department and a Digital Transformation department directly led by the company's executives to ensure the Project's success. In particular, the Digital Transformation Department will manage and implement all digital initiatives in the roadmap, ensure stable resources, and foster cooperation and commitments.

With synchronous digital transformation solutions across the company that closely follow the set goals, Gas South expects digital transformation to significantly enhance production and business efficiency. The expected rapid growth is possible as the roadmap will digitalize and link more than 90% of data related to business governance, helping all job levels make timely decisions based on complete, consistent real-time data. Over 60% of daily operations will also be digitized to increase productivity, reduce manual tasks and promote the realization of Gas South's future business orientation.
