Chairman of the Vietnam Software and IT Services Association (VINASA) and CEO of FPT Corporation, Mr. Nguyen Van Khoa, stated that foreign partners have acknowledged Vietnam as "the chosen country" to join the global semiconductor ecosystem. This information was announced during the economic diplomacy conference presided over by Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on April 2, 2024.

Mr. Nguyen Van Khoa highlighted that Vietnam presently boasts approximately 1 million IT engineers, with nearly 500,000 specializing in software engineering, poised to transition into the domains of AI and semiconductors. He noted that the global semiconductor and information technology sectors are facing a severe shortage of labor forces, as young people in countries known for their semiconductor expertise are gravitating toward other fields like finance and logistics. Conversely, AI, semiconductors, and chip manufacturing are projected to be pivotal trends shaping the future.

The Chairman of VINASA also advocated for a "comprehensive diplomatic approach" in the fields of semiconductors and AI. This includes fostering collaborations with foreign universities to facilitate curriculum transfers and human resource development, as well as crafting policies to attract foreign direct investment (FDI) in the semiconductor industry. Additionally, there's an emphasis on promoting Vietnam's image as a significant player in the industry. Mr. Nguyen Van Khoa emphasized that this presents an opportune moment for Vietnam to narrow the gap with developed nations globally.

During the economic diplomacy conference led by Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, he not only listened to various opinions but also underscored the importance of enhancing economic diplomacy efforts in 2024. Specifically, he emphasized the need to pioneer breakthroughs in attracting investments in emerging sectors like semiconductors, AI, and energy.

The Head of the Government also mentioned the need for the practical and effective organization of the Vietnam Global Leaders Forum (VGLF 2024), as well as the upcoming Conference of Overseas Vietnamese. These events aim to provide venues for overseas Vietnamese experts and intellectuals to share insights and contribute to the country's developmental endeavors.
